ixigo, India’s leading mobile travel marketplace, has announced a partnership with Uber and Redbus to make instant bookings for cabs and buses in the IBCigo Trains app.

ixigo, India’s leading mobile travel marketplace has announced a partnership with Uber and Redbus to enable instant booking for cabs and buses in the iCigo Trains app. The partnership gives Uber and Redbus access to 10 million train passengers who have installed India’s most popular train information search app for Android.

ixigo’s Train app users will now be able to register for Uber and book rides even if they do not have the Uber app installed on their device. Similarly, they will be able to view the bus schedule, select boarding / drop-points, select their seats on buses, make payments and book Redbus bus seats without leaving the ixigo train app.

When the confirmed train PNR exists on the user’s phone, the app context reminds users to book Uber before departing from their destination and arriving at their destination city. If a user’s desired train ticket is weightlisted or unavailable, they are also reminded by Redbus about the prices and availability of buses on that route.

Speaking on the launch, ICGO Co-Founder and CEO Alok Bajpayee said, “We are very excited about the possibility of this partnership unfolding. More than 8 billion train trips arrive in India every year, and commuting to and from the railway station is an important part of the overall travel experience. In this spirit, we have partnered with global market leader Uber to create a unified pre- and post-trip experience.
